Does your laptop sleep or restart when the lid is closed?

Some laptop models have a built-in magnetic sensor, so depending on the position of the magnets in the Laptop Stand Case, your laptop may enter sleep mode or restart unexpectedly.

This is not a product defect — it's a characteristic of the magnetic sensor built into certain laptop models.

If this happens, please follow the steps below.

Fix — Prevent sleep mode when the lid is closed

Connect your external monitor and keyboard/mouse first, then follow the steps below.

Windows
  1. Open Settings with Windows key + I.
  2. Go to System → Power & battery.
  3. Expand Lid, power, and sleep button controls.
  4. Under both "On battery power" and "When plugged in," set When I close the lid to Do nothing.

On Windows 10, the same setting is under Control Panel → Hardware and Sound → Power Options → Choose what closing the lid does.

Mac

For MacBook, try this first.

  1. Remove the MacBook from the case for a moment.
  2. With the lid open, reseat it in the case so the magnets don't overlap the sensor on the bottom of the MacBook.

Want to keep the lid closed and use an external monitor? Set this up too.

  1. Connect an external display and a keyboard/mouse (Bluetooth or USB) to your Mac.
  2. Connect the power adapter. Most recent macOS versions also work on battery, but a power connection is recommended for stability.
  3. Close the lid while the laptop is set upright in the stand case.
  4. Move the connected keyboard or mouse — the display wakes and shows on the external monitor (clamshell mode).
